Want a quick and easy way to make salsa at home? Look no further! This “go-to” recipe is just what you need. You can make it in minutes with ingredients straight from your garden.
Even if you don’t have a garden, these items can be purchased at your local farmers market or grocery shop.

Salsa made with fresh vegetables and spices is a delicious dip for tortilla chips or a tasty addition to other dishes you’re cooking up at home.

How to Make Salsa from Scratch at Home

This recipe can be made with any variety of tomatoes. All that will be different is how consistently it is done.

Higher water content is found in larger tomatoes, such as those used for slicing. As a result, your homemade salsa will be thinner than if you used paste tomatoes instead.


Also, feel free to include cherry tomatoes if you have a surplus.

No matter what variety of tomato you use, press off as much juice and seeds as possible before adding it to your homemade salsa.

In a food processor, cut up your tomatoes into small pieces.

To ensure that the tomatoes are diced but still thick and chunky, pulse them a few times.

A couple more pulses are needed to incorporate the remaining ingredients.


  • 10 Roma / Paste Tomatoes / Diced
  • 2/3 cup onion, diced
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 cup cilantro
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 Jalapeno pepper, diced
  • 1 Poblano pepper, diced
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Serve right away or store in the fridge for up to five days.
